I believe this is a good idea. It will protect kids from sending pictures of themselves to people, when they don't always know who is on the receiving end of the phone.
I also think this is a good idea. It is a good way to try and protect teenagers from the outcomes of do this. In high school I knew a girl that was affected by this and before you knew it the picture got around to everyone. If this was enforced during that time maybe she would have thought twice and saved herself the embarrassment.
That is a really good idea. Althought kids are gonna pretty much do what they want, it will protect them more, i think, from chhile molesters who say they are younger than what they really are. Its a dumb idea to sends nudes anyways, but it is just like child porn and Go Texas Law for trying to put a stop to it!!!!!
I dont think that this is a political matter. This is a parent to child matter. Now if the teenager is "sexting" with an adult (over 18) then I can see where the felony charges should be implemented. But, if the "sexting" is from teen to teen then this should be handed by parents. The blame should fall on the parents regardless.
I think making this a law will not reduce the amount of sexting that is being used. Most children see it as though they will continue to do something until they get caught. I also think that home training should decrease these problems. The law being put into place will not hurt it can only help.
I think this law is almost like trying to stop underage sex from happening;it:s going to happen. It"s inevitable, the only thing that we can do as a society is educate the teens to decrease the number of participants.
3. I think this type of activity will continue to take place regardless of the laws that are put in place to prevent it. It is just like the age limit for drinking. Under age kids drink because it is something they should not do, and it makes it exciting to keep from getting caught. So the legislation that is put in place to prevent under age sexting will bring about the same feeling of excitement, not to get caught. It is like you tell these kids not to do something and they do the total opposite
Honestly, do I think this will actually work? Not so much. Id it a good idea? Yes. Now days yoiung teens and even younger have the sense that sex is everything. Exposing themselves at the age of 13, 14, even 12 yrs of age is rediculous! This is definitly an parent issue more so than a legal issue. Parents need to be a parent rather than wanting to be friends and not get into their kids business. I have seen too many talk shows about sexting and the girls were the ones who were looked down on; even though the guys are the ones asking for these pictures. I could seriously go on and on about young girls and sexting and how parents are doing their jobs anymore. But I will spare you.
If a 16 year old sends a nude picture to someone of the same age, that is not a problem to me. Chances are, if they are willing to do that then the 2 parties either have or are going to participate in under-age sex. If its a 16 year old sending it to a grown man, then yes, that is problem. Kids will do it regardless, they will just try harder not to get caught
How can anyone even watch for this or catch this unless and parent sees it and brings it to attention or someone gets the pic and forwards it to everyone. What about the ones exchanging pics and they don't get reported or caught. This only applies for the cases in which they pic is forwarded or someone has a problem with it, it doesn't apply to the ones who do it all the time and have no problem with it. if that makes any sense. I'm not saying its a bad idea but it just needs some more thinking. I am glad its aimed toward minors because it gets messy when dealing with children and their bodies being exposed and shown to people. But at least its a topic thats not being ignored. And all you can hope for is more and more ways to stop sexting as the years pass and technology advances.
