  1. These events demonstrate the role of greed within third world countries by those with military power. Being that two pirates killed two of their own aboard the ship, it’s possible that they competed for resources within themselves. It is unfortunate that these people had good intentions for their visit yet were targeted, however the amount at which this event is to their fault is under discussion. I believe that these people put themselves in this situation, victimizing themselves as they became too comfortable in that environment. The pirates will take any opportunity available to make money without consideration of the well being of any others. Because of this, sailors are warned not to stray away from their rally of boats in this area, as they are fish in a sea of hungry sharks.

  2. I have always thought that pirates were just part of middle age’s history and movies, so reading the headline of this article did confused me. I would had never imaged that piracy was still around today, but after reading the article I see that this type of piracy attacks are common in this part of the world. It might be getting out of control, and I think people should just avoid sailing the Arabian sea.

  3. I feel like this is a crazy subject that we still have pirates to this day. And when i say pirates i mean pirates the same kind of pirates back in the day who where scavengers and got what ever they could get there hands on. Its sad to hear that 4 people where killed by these pirates and they should be punished for what they did. However the thing about it is how do you catch them?

  4. i feel like the case with pirates in waters like this is when it comes to how they are dealt with, it comes down to the idea of who has the bigger gun. They pretty much answer to no one and have quams with killing and taking what ever they want. I see the only solution to this matter is when the point and aim a gun at you, you point and aim a bigger gun at them.

  5. The deaths of these people are senseless tragedies. These killings serve as an unfortunate reminder of the dangers faced around the world. This is a sign of the dangers that the U.S ships face from piracy in the Arabian Sea. The violent slayings also remind us that pirates are not something of fantasy but a serious issue that needs to be dealt with.

  6. I have to agree with Thomas, if you are knowingly going to travel into waters where there will be pirates, you better be armed. And not just you, but you better have a gun for every person on your boat and know how to use them. If you are trying to get taken over and point bigger guns and maybe even some explosives in their direction you may have a better chance of survival.

  7. I think this is a sad situation to have happened to a couple who just wanted to sail across the world. Since they knew the risks of traveling across the waters no one is really to blame but themselves for this occurring. I think that regular American people should have boumdaries as to where they are allowed to travel due to these type of problems. Or if they want to ttravel they need to hire well educated and trained type of people to secure the boat to help avoid such things from happening.
