Check it out!

  1. Ok I have an issue here with the fact that almost the entire article they are saying that these women were killed because of actions they were engaged in, prostitution. Yet at the end of the article we are told that just because they are prostitutes doesn't have anything to do with the fact that their lives were cut short. So which is it were they killed because of their profession or not? It is almost like they are saying that this killer is only targeting prostitutes, and that women who are not engaged in these activities shouldn't be worried about this person. Once again we have the "Craigslist Killer" running around.

  2. I think that is what they are trying to infer, that the serial killer was targeting prostitutes much like the "Craigslist Killer" and that is why they were saying that because they were prostitutes they were killed. I do think it is because of their profession that they were killed and the fact that there is a pattern between this one and the one they found in Atlantic City.

  3. I understand where Melanie is coming from on the issue of this is why there were killed. However, I think he was mostly saying that thier profession does not change the fact that they were murdered and something needs to be done about it. I do not condemn nor do i think highly of the act of prostitution, its not a good thing but i do not have anything against the people, just the act of it. I wish there was a way to help prostitutes get out, but i dont think that they should be looked down upon because of what the do, especially when they are in danger. If we would try our hardest to find out who murdered a doctor, why not take that same passion and help find the killer of these prostitutes... thats what i think he was saying...

  4. I have to agree with Joan on this issue. I know just because they're prostitutes doesn’t mean that they’re going to get murdered, but I don't think this it helps their chances... These women know that killers are out there. This guy probably isn't the only one and every time they go out for work it's a big risk. I don’t think anyone deserves to get murdered but all those women need to protect themselves and get out of this business.

  5. It's sad to see people coming to the end of their hopeless lives as a prostitute. That line of work has been portrayed in many, many movies as one of high risk; especially over the internet. One almost would like to say I told you so, but there was clearly no telling these ladies how to be smart prostitutes. They should have a Prostitution for Dummies book come out before too long, with murders like this, I feel they could be better educated. However, a book of such would not decrease risks associated with prostitution, just make them easier to prevent.

  6. i think being a prostitute killed this ladies. The person that killed them was looking for prostitutes to kill. This ladies just happened to answer the call at that moment and were killed because of the line of work they have chosen and no other reason except for that one.

  7. Being a prostitute is not a safe profession to choose from, I believe. They put themselves in these situations. Regardless of the reasons as to why they are prostitutes, the fact they work in an underworld profession doesn't help them. I believe the theory that exaplins this in victimology is called "victim proneness".

  8. I think that the District Attorney is using these murders as a "lesson learned" and an example to other prostitutes. granted prositution is by no means an acceptable lifestyle and can be a very dangerous profession but that does not take away the fact that these women were someone's daughter or someone's mother. By no means does the womens' profession jusitfy their murders.

  9. It sounds like these women risked their lives in a very unsafe profession. It is possible that there is a "Jack the Ripper"-esque killer out there. From what the authorities have claimed, it sounds an awful lot like the methods of a serial killer.

  10. I feel as though the article is somewhat all over the place, but then again...these are sort of like, theory type answers to the prostute's murders...The women sadly had to deal with some of the actions and consequences that come along with such a dangerous profession...I agree that no matter the profession that every victim deserves justice be granted upon them...

  11. The story of a serial killer after prostitutes sounds like a typical episode from a popular TV show. However, most of the times that I see these shows, they typically portray prostitutes like "well this is their profession, and that's what they got" sort of thing. And perhaps it is true, they did put themselves to danger, but I don't think they ever asked to be killed much less deserved it.

  12. What an opinionated statement from the District Attorney! But in all fairness the profession of prostitution is quite risky. Its sad to hear these women's lives were cut short but common Craigslist? I mean your not suppose to meet up with people you meet online- your taking a big risk if you do. Plus there is history of a Craigslist killer why would anyone take the risk of doing business on that site?

  13. These women increased their chances of being victimized by engaging in this type of activity. They put themselves in a vulnerable position, and the criminal always looks for an easy target. These women were engaged in illegal activity but this doesn’t mean that they deserved something like this

  14. This story was interesting to me... i do not condone prostitution at all thats just me but these women were still human beings. There was a sentence in the article that said that their deaths were caused by their profession. I can see where some one would get this idea but at the same time every job in america comes with the risk of being killed, now i am not saying that every job can lead to murder, not at all but there is that risk... and when i first read the sentence i was like how could they say this, and i still think that. these women were human beings that had families, friends.. i think murder is a horriable thing and its very tragic and my sympathies go to the families of these victims.... thanks Greg for putting this up. it just goes to show how messed up are world is.

  15. these women chose this profession, not the greatest choice, but none the less. Yes prostitution is high risk, but when you gain and book your clients via internet you dont have any idea of who you are dealing with. This goes back to sexual preditors talking to young kids on IM. It's the same thing; you dont know the person, you really and truely dont have the correct ID of that person, and you're just not being smart. Is it their fault this happened to them because of their profession, i think so. If they had chosen a different line of work, this could have been avoided.

  16. These women knew what they were getting themselves into when they became prostitutes, but at the same time its sad to see something like this happen. The idea that there is a possible serial killer on the loose out there is also fairly scary, but also a little bit exciting because they could be some psychopath killer that re-writes the history books on what we thought we knew about serial killers.
