  2. Pimlinko is having a number of drug campaigns. They are strictly trying to achieve this, especially after a 16 year old was stabbed to death by a gang carrying swords and knives. Why can't the United States decide to become stricter on drugs and gangs? Their answer is to legalize marijuana in two states and expect people to say safe. There are many deaths due to these gangs and drugs. A mother should not have to wait for her fifteen year old son to get home from a youth club. She also shouldn't have to fear taking her toddler outside because of all the "skunk" being smoked. There are not enough restrictions on gang violence and drug abuse. The criminal justice system in the state of Alabama are more concerned with a speeding violation than a drug bust. As a whole out priorities are not where they should be and it is causing more and more problems to unfold. The government should be more cautious and more controllive on drug and gang related violence to prevent such deaths.

  3. I feel the campaigns on gangs should have started way before a teenager was injured. I feel gangs can cause many problems within any area they enter. Gangs need to be stopped. The problem however is finding a way to stop gangs all around the world. One way could be to look at teh youth in these areas, and stop the youth from joining.Although stopping gang activity cannont be easy, I believe some solution needs to be found.I just think about how I wouldnt want my 12 year old son walking around with weapons and killing other kids his age.

  4. I do believe my favorite part of this article was that there was a 56% decrease in serious youth crimes since September 2011 and yet he was killed January 27. I applauded them for the decrease but question the numbers. This kid was killed by a mob. Although I am impressed with the way they've decreased their numbers!! They are rehabilitating the gang members rather than just sending them to jail and where they wouldn't get the kind of training and support they need. I'm interested in the long term research of these individuals.

  5. Seeing a 16 year old getting stabbed to death by a gang who carries swords and knives should be the beginning of several other campaigns. I think it will be impossible to get rid of all the gangs but at least we can get to the point where gangs only do their thing, but do not hurt anyone, especially innocent teenagers. So many deaths are caused by gangs. No one has the right to take someone’s life away just because they decide it is their ''turn'' or because they did something wrong. They do not only kill someone physically but also kill the victims’ family members emotionally as well. The United States should have more laws prohibiting teenagers being out in the streets without their mom or dad, hanging out with older peoples that carry weapons or drugs with them. The one that gets caught with a teenager should get major sentence. Not only should that person be charged, but the teenager also should be giving a least community service hours or jail time. That will hopefully make them learn a lesson and maybe understand that they should be hanging out with kids their age and playing video games or other activities instead of playing with weapons or killing people.

  6. Hearing about things like these is hard because the victim was an innocent sixteen-year-old boy, and the poor boys’ family. In my opinion about this situation the government should not have to wait for an innocent by standard gets killed by a mob that was armed with swords and knives. The government should have stepped up their war on drugs and gangs way before this incident. In the article they say the serious youth violence has dropped since they implemented a anti-gang campaign in September of 2011 yet in at the beginning of the article they state there has been an escalation in violence in the area. I understand that they are doing what they can, but they believe that a decrease in crime in 2011 means crime will stay down. This isn’t true the decrease in crime was due to the implementation of the program, but the gangs will learn a way to work around the program and get away with their malevolent crimes. If the government should pay more attention to what really is going on, if they actually look and to research about gangs they will truly find a way to decrease violence for good.

  7. I sincerely believe that the government is in part to blame for these acts getting out of hand such as the one mentioned here in this article. The English are evidently incapable of admitting how serious their gang problem is. Although it is not seemingly as bad as other countries the need for addressing these young gangs carrying and assaulting people (mainly other youths) with swords and knives. With gun crimes on the rise in England I think by admitting there could/is a problem that is a positive springboard to initiate procedures and policies in order to curve this violent activity. Also from research it is mentioned that their gang problems are on the decline…good for them, keep up the work because obviously it is working according to reported statistics. I feel confident that if they would just admit more openly about the gang issue they might have a thing or two to teach the rest of the world.

  8. What a horrifying ending for Hani Abou El Khei to be stabbed to death by swords and knives. I find that surprising to hear that swords were used by criminals to execute a young teenager. Like usual criminals will find one way or another to substitution for lethal weapons, since guns have been low in supply after the United Kingdom put heavy restrictions on firearms. At least the town hall bosses are taking actions realizing that the rise of violence might correlate with the new phenomenon over drug in Pimlico. Another surprising part of the article was that the council realizes that they alone can’t handle the problem on their own. I think United States should encourage parent and the community more to contribute more preventing gang violence by working monitoring and caring for the youth more.
It was satisfying to know that crime in youth has dropped drastically after the Westminster’s anti-gangs campaign in 2011. Quite prestige’s to know that a nation can reduce youth violence by more than 50% over the past year. I wonder now if the council and the community are going to be strong to lower drug and violence over the next few years.

  9. It’s amazing in Pimlico after September 2011 they saw a dramatic decrease in gang violence close to a 60 percent which is really remarkable. It is unfortunate that after this decline in violence that Hani Abou El Kheir was murdered by a vicious mob carrying swords and knifes, but violence like this has always happened in the past no matter how far you go back it’s always been there. We can’t prevent from everybody from not being a victim like Hani because that’s just the way life is sometimes so us unfair and scary also, but like you read in the reading we can decrease the number of people who are committing these heinous crimes.

  10. I feel they should’ve taken the gang situation seriously before the teenager was killed but the affirmative action after the incident is welcoming. I understand the reaching out to the parents and the neighborhood because that’s where it stems from. The 56% decrease in serious youth crimes is great and I think our justice systems can take some pointers in how this was achieved instead of throwing them into the system without a chance of rehabilitation. To me this will stop a lot of the crime and decrease the amount of gangs before their even started if caught early enough. All in all it shouldn’t have taken a young man’s life in order for the English to admit their gang problem.

  11. I’m glad that serious youth crimes are down I am also glad that they feel the need to take action against those who are causing these crimes. The time has come for the community to back their streets. It is too often that we here about a teenager getting shot or even worse killed. Some people say that it starts at home and that is true but what if the parent is teaching their kid the correct thing but on their way to school they are gunned down. Not parent is teaching the same thing to their kids but if the community takes there place on the war against serious youth crime then that’s when things will start to change. This is what this community is doing they are taking things in to their hands they say this cannot happen again.

  12. If they wouldn't have ignored the gang problem for so long, they wouldn't have this problem. I hate that it takes a death of someone to spark awareness of gang violence. Gangs are everywhere and its not just a phase.
However, I am glad that they are starting to crack down on gang violence to help the youth out and protect other people. The last thing they need is getting more youth involved in gangs then when they get in trouble, they really can't do much with their lives with something like that on their record.

  13. News stories of teens in England being assaulted by gangs have become a common occurrence in the media for the English people. At one point in time the English government believed that gangs were only an American problem. However in recent times the English government has finally come to realize that they do have a gang problem. It is great to see that local governments are taking the initiative of establishing programs to decrease youth violence and establishing programs to deter youths in joining gangs. However I believe that the responsibility of deterring teens in joining gangs should not fall all into the governments’ hands but should be a shared responsibility between the government and the local communities. In addition, it is also great to hear that the city of Westminster’s, England anti-gang campaign has reduced youth violence by 56.7 percent since their launch of their initiative in September 2011.

  14. I think that it is sad that a killing is what triggered the movement. The council of Westminster even admitted that the death of Hani Abou El Kheir was what caused the realization that change needed to occur. It shows that people are naïve to what is going on around them until something fatal happens. Nevertheless, I am glad action is taking place. The youth are the main target, which I believe will continue to be beneficial. During adolesence, kids are trying to “find who they are.” With this “Your Choice” strategy teenagers will go towards the right pathway, rather than leaning towards the gangs, drugs, and violence. I believe this strategy is giving the young adults the positive support that is much needed in that period of their lives. At over a 56% reduction, the future for Pimlico overall seems to be a good one. Also involving the community and parents may make things so much easier. If everyone takes it seriously, there is guaranteed a positive outcome. Nurturing the kids and showing them that they are cared for can make a difference. It indeed does take a village to raise a child.

  15. OK, so in the Westminster, an innocent sixteen year old lost his life due to a mob who was armed with swords. The town hall bosses feel that now is the time to step up to the plate, and try to stop the violence that is going on. They said they knew that violence in Westminster was bad, but since someone has died, they feel now is time to take action. I’m sorry, but that’s ridiculous. You feel that you should take action now since some innocent person has lost their life? See that is what is wrong with the world today. People do not want to intervene into a situation, until someone gets hurt. My logic is, why wait for someone to die? If you know there is a problem, try to fix the problem! Why should an innocent life be taken because people are lazy. This is NOT, smart thinking. I feel that the parents of the young sixteen year old should sue for not being proactive, since they knew violence was on a rise, and they didn’t want to do anything until there was a negative outcome. Shame on the town hall bosses in Westminster!

  16. If I remember correctly, not saying it doesn’t happen; it is illegal to carry guns in London. First off I think it’s crazy that this poor kid was attacked with swords and knives. That sounds like and extremely gruesome way to go out. I’m amazed the criminals involved actually followed the weapon laws. I wonder how many crimes like this happen there in comparison to the US. Not many crimes like that in the US are talked about by the media; they seem to only be concerned with gun violence. Young girls carrying weapons sounds like what terrorists in the Middle East do. There were many cases where the women were just the pack mules meant to carry the heavy loads, or become the weapon themselves. On a positive note that sounds pretty good that the campaign launched is lessening the youth violence. From what I’ve gathered, teens and children need to be told what to do. They crave boundaries and sometimes they grow up in houses that give them none. What’s awesome about Great Britain is the age of majority could be seen as any age. Therefore it seems kids really do have a better chance of getting away from their rotten home life easier there than here.

  17. pimlinko is having now a lot campaigns against drug since that 16 year old kid was murder. they been having this problem wide before this event, but now they are trying to do something about it because it got to a point where it's pretty dangerous to everybody.
this is one of the problems with the majority of the government systems in the world. they try to solve a problem and it cant be cover up no more, they wait till the crime organizations get strong and start making big movements instead of keeping a low profile. i think that everything could be better and easier if our political leaders do something to prevent the "problem" instead of trying too hard to get rid of it.
it's better to prevent something than trying to solving it.

  18. This is in reference to the drug gang killing of a teenager, by an armed mob in Pimlico England. The terrible truth of drug gangs is an issue not to be handled lightly by police and subjected authorities. Wherever crime ensues as a result of these gangs, an answer of swift justice should be implemented, not to just ensure more protection of the cities and towns, but to ratify what the council has promised such communities. In the long run, the swift justice method will save more lives and become more of a permanent factor in stopping these drug gangs, who also have guns, and use young girls to carry those guns, and perform sexual favors as well. The 56.7 percent reduction in violence from youths is only a stepping stone, or a building block to a higher reduction in the future.
I feel that with this growing issue facing the council will present new protocol that can be used on a bigger scale, and with larger demographics. The ‘your choice’ strategy is not a misgiving of force, whether you feel that it is elusive in nature, or completely on point, the lives of innocent youths are being destroyed, and so are the lives of those innocent youth’s families. I hope that the ‘your choice’ method begins to deter the crime of the drug gangs as quickly as possible.

  19. The murder of Hani Abou El Kheir, a 16 year old male, made people realize they need to stops the gang and drug war. This teenager was stabbed to death with swords and knifes by a mob on January 27. It took that much for people to realize that they need to put a halt on the gang and drug war. They should have tried a long time ago to make it better before it got this bad. I did like to hear that what they are doing has already improved so much. In fact it has already improved by 56.7 percent. That is more that half percent! Can you believe that? I really like their system, and it seems to work. Maybe United States should pull out their handy dandy notebook and take some notes from them. They must be doing something right that we can copy. The gangs and drugs are here too. Maybe it is not as bad but we need to crack down on it before it becomes too much to handle. I agree with the ending of the article that a mother should not have to worry about their toddler being around smoke because young teens are outside smoking. Personally I would tell the 15 year olds to get away from my window.

  20. This is a tragedy to say the least, but on one hand you should always know where you are at, and make sure you have plans to protect yourself. I liked the way the police are going about these drug problem. They are starting from me bottom by starting with the parents. Gangs and drugs go together like peanut butter and jelly. It is sad to say the least but they are trying to curb the violence. Which is a good thing in my eyes. The crime levels have gone down so they must be doing something right. It sounds like they being very proactive in this community.
