  1. The Gangster’s class seems very interesting I like the way Gangsters were portrayed in movies in the 1930 and 1960s as Mobsters with nice clean cut suits mostly Caucasian and as we move to modern day society the image of a gangster has changed to minorities with sagging pants bandanas and at times even rappers are portrayed as Gangsters. Notorious B.I.G and Tupac to me are not gangsters there problems mainly a raised by the hip-hop rivalry between the east and west coast. However when I look at the definition to Gangster I can see how people can categories rappers into criminals who are members of organized organizations. They did sell drugs like Al Capone just on a smaller scale. Society at times only focuses on one side of a Gangsters life the murders, drugs, racketeering, and Mafia. It is interesting when showing their personal life too, because at times not all gangsters are bad in their domestic household. So it’s interesting to know how they switch their behavior patterns into a murderers to a caring father I wish there was more research on Gangsters psychologically. I would like to know and understand the differences between bloods, crips, MS 13, Los Zetas, and international gangs. How do gangs establish their connections and become so well organized?

  2. I have to admit after watching this presentation on gangsters and how they have transitioned has me very much focused on the class itself. I'm not too big in the whole gangsters of the 20th century, but I'm interested in how gangsters were portrayed back in 50's and 60's. The gangsters were more clean cut back in those days, unlike those gangsters now, wearing baggy pants and tats all over their body. The gangsters now will kill kids just to get back at other gangs, they are disrespectful to all not just those who double crossed them. As a society we have to be careful what kind of hand gestures you do or even what color clothes you wear. The gangsters in the 50's and 60's were just a different breed when it came their killings and why they killed. After watching "Original Gangsters" and "The Godfather", you look at gangs in the 20th century as the bottom, but striking fear in peoples hearts is what they are known for doing. After seeing the major difference, one can only wonder what happen, and where do we go from here. I wonder will gangs ever just disappear? What will gangs be like in another 20 years? If its just a way to feel part of a family, then why kill?

  3. Yea it is very funny how gangsters changed from back in the day to today. I remember watching all those gangster movies with guys wearing expensive suits and shooting tommy guns, although today gangsters are portrayed as a low life usually criminals with tattoos and saggy clothing. I think that one major factor that helped popularized the gangster culture was hip hop music from the 90's. The media was trying to make money on something that sounded new, so off course there was a lot of people that got rich from making music about it. Now gangs are different there isnt really a term gangster anymore now a days they are just gang bangers that are part of the street gang a lot different then Chicago's Black Hand or Five Families From New York from the 20's.

  4. Gangster's have come a long way since they first started to appear. Gangsters have transformed lives in the sense of moeny security or even people outlooks on life. This domestic gangsters class was really interesting, I've learned various techniques of gangs and their members, I've also learned where gang members are. Gangs and their members are everywhere and they are smart about the way they handled their business sometimes. Especially the transnational gangs, the fact that they have expanded their gangs that far says alot.
