  1. i think this kind of project will continue working on criminals, because faith is something powerful, actually a lot of people based their life on this one, maybe it could be like that for all those convicts that basically have to pass the rest of their life in jail. what this project could do, is give them that hope of be "forgiven" for god. but in the other hand we can see this project as a government's strategy to avoid al those fights and murders in prison, also there will be jobs coming up to all those convicts that graduated from the seminary and this could help to USA economy at a certain time. some time ago were some rumors about to make some prisoners convictions shorter based on their conducts and even they could give to some of them their freedom back. in fact, the government doesn't have to spend any more money on their food and paying to take care of them.
now, the big question... its really going to work?

  3. Individuals in prison have sometimes been described as the scum of the earth. Some don’t even think them worthy of sympathy. Perhaps one thing they are missing is the fact that they are human, too. Murderers, thieves, child abusers—yes –but still human. Every human being deserves to have some kind of hope. This program is affording those individuals that chance. They are given the ability to regain hope in a hopeless situation. It is allowing them peace on a level much greater than the disapproving citizens around them. Through this program they will find an unwavering source of strength that will help them through the rest of their life. Aside from the peace of mind and faith that this program is affording, it may also have the potential for better conduct from the inmates. If the inmates truly take to heart what they are learning, then there is a chance that they may seek to be righteous in their ways. They may strive to behave better and turn their lives around which will make the jobs of some people much easier.

  4. I am extremely pleased to hear that inmates are getting seminary in prison. I support it 100 percent. Convicts are known for their mistakes and wrong doings and there is no better way but to become one with god. If these convicts were ever to get out, the would not still have the same bad intentions they did when the got in. Hope, happiness and joy can be gained through this wonderful program. They are no longer a threat towards society if anything the would help benefit it by helping the needy, getting involved with church and hopefully in projects that could help the community out. Faith is so strong and powerful i hope the keep this program and also other prisons join in. thank you for posting this video.

  5. I also support what the state of Texas is doing with the seminary program in prison. I feel as if those whom are serving time will really come about an interpersonal and intrapersonal peace. Violence within prison could minimize and order could improve. Also, if the prisoners become more aware of ethical behavior, the impact to society could be great. There are many inmate service projects that prisoners could partake of. If anything is to be taken from this program, it will be that God has forgiven them for their sins if they truly repent and that they continue to have a place in the heart of God.

  6. I LOVE this idea about giving inmates something to look forward to in the future and for other inmates the incentive to be on their best behavior in order to be accepted into this program. I used to be the type of person who felt like if you committed a crime and were found guilty, just throw away the key and leave them in there to learn their lesson. After watching real life shows such as Lock-Up Raw, I have dramatically changed this viewpoint and have come to feel that many people serving life sentences have changed their ways. I feel that more programs like this one should be offered to these inmates who have turned their lives around in prison in order to give them a sort of “reward” for their current behavior. This gives inmate an incentive to have good behavior therefore decreasing criminal acts within jail, but also once released prisoners who have earned degrees or trades are less likely to commit crimes on outside because they now have a profession they can rely on. Programs like these help everyone from the prisoner to the warden. I hope this program takes off and is offered in every prison in the United States.

  7. i think people serving life in prison deserve to have some kind of religious interaction. i think it is a very good idea for the crimanals serving life in prison, for such crimes such as murders and robbers. the people serving life in prison are usually mean bad people, but i think this program is good for these people and it will help our prisons be safer.

  8. I think that this is a great start for inmates to turn their lives around. While they are in prison, they have so much time to think about their actions and feel true remorse for whatever it is that they did, and this creates a great opportunity for them to change their lives. No, it does not let them completely start over, because they are still in prison, but this way they are able to make a change where they are. They also have great opportunities to teach other inmates about Christianity, because I'm sure a good amount of people in prison don't know or have turned away from it. What better way to practice preaching than to a room full of inmates? And the impact of their teachings can change so many other lives, resulting in a much different environment with potentially less violence and danger.

  9. This is great Idea and program. Prison is not just to punish and wharehouse inmates and convicts but to rehabilitate them as well as punish. We need more programs that will help end resitavism in our prison systems as well as help to give hope and end violence and illegal activities in our prisons.
I would like to see more programs that would help to rehabilitate the inmates and prepare them for rentry into society. I would like to see some major prison reforms that would help inmates find hope and a solid carreer path when they are released. So that the cycle of fear and violence that led them to prison can end

  10. Being in jail or prison is a whole different life. You have to gain “respect” in prison. It’s hard to be straight-minded and stay positive when everyone around you is in there for the same reasons. Every inmate is trying to keep their guard up around each other, and your attitude has to be tougher. God is the only thing they can run to for hope and happiness. I actually know someone who went to jail with no belief in god. Being in there, all you can do is think every minute of every second. God opened his eyes to realize that he had a plan for him and it can’t go wrong if you let it. God can let the inmates find forgiveness for themselves and what they have done. Even for inmates who will be in there for life. Ones getting that second chance will leave knowing the word of God, makes them a changed person. It can open their eyes to seeing what life really is, and that all you have to do is have belief in God that he will guide them to happiness. Nothing can really go wrong in believing in God, it’s hard to not have a reason not to believe, because all he is doing is making you a better person, realizing that God has a plan for you. So I believe it is a GREAT thing to do for the inmates, just from my experience it really does change the men in there with no hope of happiness again.

  11. I actually, think that this is a good idea. Although I think that criminals don’t deserve special privileges, I don’t think that being able to practice religion is a special privilege, I think that faith should be something anyone can take part in and even criminals deserve to have hope, and their families deserve to have hope for them too. I truly think that people can change if they really want to. The only problem I see in all of this is that being in jail is not something easy, and I imagine, those prisoners who choose to take part in religious affiliations/the sermons available, won’t have an easy time with the other prisoners. However, focusing on the fact that these criminals are getting the opportunity to have seminary in prison, overall, it’s a great idea. And I totally agree with all the previous posts especially with, kristi2374, when she says that these criminals/prisoners are in “extreme hopeless situations,” and while they pay for their crimes, they should have the opportunity to find peace. If anyone of them eventually reaches the potential to leave prison, hopefully, after committing to religion, they will be able to find their place in society.

  12. I think this is amazing. God says ALL of our sins can be forgiven. ALL!! And the Jesus dies for ALL mans sins. In Gods eyes, premarital sex is the same as capital murder. Honestly, it is hard to see from a certain point of view, but it is the word of the bible. I tihnk it is great that these men want to do something with their lives. If i was serving a life sentence I dont know how I would respond. I applaud these men on practicing their faith, and trying to extend the word of God throughout the prison system. I would definitely be interested into getting involved with prison ministry. If we call our self Christians, we have a duty to spread the word of God. God does not limit that to people outside of prison. He says, to preach His word to everyone. I would not call these prisoners hopeless. Their lifestyle growing up very well could have been different then mine. They might not have ever been introduced to the church, it is never to late to be saved by the grace of God. After these men get out, each of us can only pray that they keep their faith and practice their religion, and hopefully that will keep them from violating the law again.

  13. i think this is a great idea for all prison systems. Despite my own feelings or beliefs on the idea of Christianity, i think its an overall positive to teach morality and good behavior to inmates. the only idea that may conflict with this is if they are allowed to teach Christianity in the prisons then they must be allowed to teach all religions. this may cause conflict.
