  1. When I first heard about what took place at the Boston Marathon I was really shocked. I didn’t want to believe that this was an act of terrorism. Now that it as been confirmed as an act of terrorism I am relieved that the suspects that committed this horrific act have been taken off the streets. I hope that the authorities can get information as to why this happen. Also if there are other bombs or people involved, so it can be stopped before any other lives are destroyed.

  2. In reference to the Boston Marathon bombings, to not include the savage murder of the MIT campus police officer in the Criminal Compliant against Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is a travesty in the judicial branch of the United States. When in reality the charges being presented against Dzhokhar Tsarnaev give full detail of the weapons allegedly carried by the suspects, as well as the composition of the two bombs that went off successfully at the marathon in Boston. As much as I am sure that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev will be convicted of the charges against him, a question is left in the wake of such violence and upheaval, and that question is why not charge Tsarnaev as an enemy combatant, which in doing so would strip Tsarnaev of many rights.
Something has to be done to stop these tragic killings being predominantly committed by the youth of the country of college age. Perhaps we should target Universities as an example to the students, as well as others who may be influenced, by making extremely stricter laws and penalties pertaining to bombings, shootings or for assisting in any way to commit these acts. Stopping just one act of violence could save the lives and permanent injuries of many innocent people. If these extremely stricter laws could be passed these killers who may not value the lives of others, may perhaps value the risk of their own life, injury, or imprisonment enough to stop these acts of terror.

    1. I am in agreement with you Richard. I do not understand why Tsarnaev will not be charged as an enemy combatant. He should be stripped of as many rights as possible. Our system has not set a harsh enough example to warn off future acts of violence or terrorism. Especially these kids doing these horrific things in schools and such that like the Boston Marathon hurt so many innocent people. These two boys need to be taught a lesson. It pains me to see that the country that was helping educated them is the one they turn on and disrespect. Most people want to cough it up to mental health, well fine if that is the case, then lock him up in a mental facility and throw away the key.

  3. The Boston Marathon bombings where a horrific event, which shocked the whole country, and it was almost as shocking to see how all type of law enforcement officers chanced the two suspects of the bombings until they interacted in a fatal shooting of a MIT police officer and what is believed to have been the master mind behind the bombings. I’m glad law enforcement was able to find the two boys even though one of them is dead and the other is critically injured. I hope the boy who is critically injured survives in order to find out why the boys really did what they did, what brought them to building a bomb and why the marathon and not some place else. Whether they bombed the marathon to make a religious or a political statement. We need to increase security when there are public event throughout the country to try and prevent any copycats who would want to iminate the Boston Marathon Bombings

  4. Let me first start by saying, what this young man was sick! He has serious mental issues. I cannot get my brain to understand how one can be so mad at the world that they actually are willing to kill people. Not just people who have victimized the suspect, but random innocent people. I usually am against the death penalty, because I feel like it is hypocritical teaching someone that murder is wrong by murdering them. Plus, the system is not 100% so, I hate to think that we killed an innocent human being due to a mistake. In this case, I feel that he needs the death penalty. Anyone who kills multiple people purposely, and shows no remorse does not have a right to live. I’m sorry, but the whole situation is unbearable. How can one be so angry to go take people lives? The sad thing is, the young man is only 19 years old. He hasn't even experienced life yet. I send prayers to all the families that are going through this horrific time.

  5. It has been over a week since the bombing in Boston, and even after the capturing of these fugitives the country is still in shock as to why they committed this crime. I’m sure the killing of innocent people has touch us in a big way. But this act of violence that was committed also brings another big debate to the table for congress as to who are we really letting come into the country. By this crime people will automatically assume that all people who are coming to the U.S. pose a threat to this county. Is this true? Not really, in my opinion. Not all immigrants pose a threat to this county. Anyone could such a crime as these two brothers have done, even if you are not a immigrant to this country.

  6. I think it's crazy that this guy is not charged like an enemy combatant. I assumed that an act of violence this great would bypass his citizenship because I do feel that the bombing was an act of terrorism. Fortunately for the bomber in America we have put laws into place to remain just. I just think it sucks that these guys took so many lives and are being treated as if this was not an act of terror. This was not just oh someone snapped, but a premeditated act to devastate a nation. I feel like although we are keeping his citizenship intact, we should account for the fact that maybe these people never felt an allegiance to our country. Provided my information is limited, but I don't think that this seems fair for someone who stripped many of their life to be granted rights of someone who is a citizen when their crime was so heinous.

  7. What really gets to me is that this man remained calm during the time of the explosion. Knowing what was going on not being bothered by it is crazy, and I am sure he thought there would be more fatalities than there was. I agree that Tsarnaev should not be tried as an enemy combatant. What he and his brother did will never be forgotten, and it is sickening to know that they caused so much damage. I believe that his race and heritage should not be a subject matter. Regardless of ethnicity, what he did was wrong and we should not try to put a bad name to where he is from. I hope this guy survives in the hospital, that way the families can see justice being served once he is out. His brother and himself admitting to a guy that they carjacked is just an further explanation of how sick people can be and have no sense of remorse.

  8. Yes, this act of violence was a tragedy, but we must remember that we are all innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Even those suspects that said they committed the crime will go to trial, unless a plea agreement is reached. Instead of just calling this person a terrorist, we need to remember he is a US citizen and he has the same rights as a US citizen that was born on this soil. I don’t know about everyone in class but my great grandparents were born in the Czech Republic, and I think that is how this great melting pot we live in was started.
This is another issue where someone’s mental health should come into question. Any person in their right mind would not decide one day to go out and commit an act of violence. I am not on this suspect’s side but how would you feel if this was your brother or a family member? Until you have been put in this type of position you cannot say how you would act one way or the other. I still believe there is a mental health issue in this country that we need to really look into and start finding an answer to the problem

  9. This is a sad story and I feel sorry for the victims and their families who were involved in this tradegy. There are two suspects right now who are being accused of the cause of this. We are not sure if it was these two, but the evidence is pointing to them. Honestly, I feel that anybody who looked suspicious during the explosion or was too calm will become a suspect of causing this. So in the end I don't know if we will ever find the real bombers, someone will be blamed for this.

  10. The Boston marathon bombings were a very sad event that shock us all. The saddest part of it was that the bombers were legal residences. I think that the younger brother shouldn't be prosecuted as enemy combated, so that the justice can be serve properly, theoretically he is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law but in this case i think that he should get what he deserves and we should keep him in the United States prison.

  11. The bombing that happened during the Boston Marathon took place a little over a week ago and still people act like it just happened. It is a tragic issue, though there was no reason for their action. To me it clearly seems like an act to catch peoples attention. succeeding in catching many peoples attention, these two brothers also just give people coming into the United States a bad reputation. Much like Domingo Gonzalez said, "By this crime people will automatically assume that all people who are coming to the U.S. pose a threat to this county. Is this true? Not really, in my opinion. Not all immigrants pose a threat to this county". This issue is a topic to talk about, but not to carry on and give them more attention.

  12. My prayers go out to all the families that were affected by this tragic event. In my opinion this young man was not sick, he and his brother knew exactly what they were doing. I think the complaint should also include the officer who also lost his life due to their stupidity. I’m not a firm believer in the death penalty, because it really does not serve a purpose, unless it brings relief to the families of the victims. I have not really followed the story, but I would like to know why this young man and his brother decided to wake up one day or plan to take the lives of innocent people. Although I think that the death penalty does not resolve or deter anyone from committing future crimes, when this type of tragic event happens, it makes you that the death penalty may not be such a bad idea.

  13. Researchers might be able to utilize information obtained from Dzhokhar Tsarnaev as to the reasons why he chose to commit acts of terrorism. A majority of the past bombers, have obviously died due to their acts of terror and the minute amount that have been caught have mental issues. Via interviews of the bomber, his family and possible classmates and teachers, can obtain a greater understanding of why people commit these horrific acts. Researchers can use journals and past research articles pertaining to this issue to help in assisting law enforcement prevent further terrorist attacks. Potential problems researchers might face include bias or prejudice in their work due to country ties and affiliations. Hopefully researchers can use this unique opportunity to gain an understanding as to the reasons why these people continually decide to perform terrorist acts.

  14. It is coming to light just how planned this attack was and the extent of how many people knew but did nothing. At what point will people wake up and quit trying to be "politically correct"? I do however believe that the younger brother was heavily influence by his older brother and their small group of friends. I do think there is correlation between mental issues and this act. I think that so many researches can be effective using this scenario. Things such as the relationships with religious affiliation and bombings. Another could be what influence does a family member have in acts of violence. The field of research is vast when trying to explain why violence or bombings occur.

  15. Now for gangsters... Since now we know there are more involved in the Boston bombing a valid point can be argued that these people were gang-like. These religious sects conduct themselves sometimes in the same manners. I know it is far reaching but many many international gangs are borderline religious freak and cults.

    ReplyDelete
  16. The bombing was a sad, scary and sick thing. The fact that someone would do that at all and put all those people in danger is just ridiculous. I think they should get charged to the fullest extent for what they did. Not only did they kill two people but also injured numerous others and put everyone in danger. The fact that he carjacked someone and openly admitted it with no remorse shows that he is clearly ready for the consequences he will get.

    ReplyDelete
  17. The two brothers that conducted the bombings used gang like tactics to carryout the Boston Marathon bombings. Not only did they place home made explosives (similar to some gangs), but they hijacked a car and tried robbing a convienent store. It's safe to say they they engaged in gang like activity and showed no signs of remorse or sorrow after the they were identified. Much like gang members act when they are caught doing crimes.

  18. In the article about the Boston Marathon bomber that he might get the death penalty. “The accused bomber faces charges of use of a weapon of mass destruction and malicious destruction of property resulting in a death. If convicted of the federal charges, Tsarnaev could face the death penalty.” Giving him the death penalty is too easy for this 19 kid. I agree that he should be punishment given in the form of allowing him to be place in a 3rd world country prison system not in the United States. He should be treated as a terrorist or an enemy combatant but as usual the Supreme Courts has not rule on whether the Constitution would allow the government to hold a U.S. citizen arrested on American soil as an enemy combatant. I’m sadden that this happen to the victims and hope the capture of this young man bring some closure the families that lost love ones.

  19. I am so glad they decided not to charge Tsarnaev as an enemy combatant because he doesn't deserve anything that’s going to make this trial easy for him. And I am getting real sick and tired of reading some of the lame excuses people are trying to give this man regarding his age and the possibility he was just following his older brother. These were two grown men who put some serious thought and planning into this cowardly attack on innocent people. They have ruined so many lives because they had this idea to blow up some stuff. Also I am a little upset with our government not keeping a closer eye on someone who was on the watch list for terrorist. I don’t understand why there seems to always be cracks in the system for people to slide right on through and caused more damage to others that possibly could have been avoided. Maybe one we will get it right there’s no telling how many other potential catastrophes’ that have been caught and avoided in time. It’s kind of scary to even think about how many more times something like this can happen anywhere and no one not even have any idea. This is a sad world we live in.

  20. My prayers go out to the friends and family members of the victims of the Boston Marathon Bombing. Something about this story is not adding up to me. Why do we not hear more about the shooting at the MIT Campus? An officer was shot. I think that the mother has something to do with it. Tsarnaev should be sentenced the death penalty for all the trouble that he and his brother have caused. Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was an idiot, this is why… "Did you hear about the Boston explosion?" a man said to the driver after reaching in his window and opening the car door. "I did that," he said while pointing a loaded firearm at the driver. Who brags about a crime they committed? To make matters worse, a bombing, which is being called a terrorist attack. This tells me that he does not mind dying for his cause. I do not understand how Tsarnaev was only charged with a weapon of mass destruction and malicious destruction of property resulting in a death. What about terrorism and robbery? I honestly, think that he will not receive a fair trial. The article says that these charges “bring a successful end to a tragic week for the city of Boston.” This is not true what Dzhokhar and his brother did will never be forgotten. His conviction will not bring the people who died back. So how is this successful?

  21. The Boston Bombings will forever be remembered in our hearts, all the lives affected due to the carelessness of these two men is sad. The news has been following this story from the beginning, more and more information is coming out to the public. (Although not all true, for example all the fake stories on facebook and other websites) There are conspiracy theories, beliefs that these men did not act out alone, and others saying that the younger brother was influenced by the older brother. Whatever the reason it might be, I hope that soon we will find out. There are many unanswered questions to this incident, many researchers can look at the bombings just like school shootings. Both cause deaths at the hands of careless murderers.

  22. We, as Americans, will always remember and mourn the day the Boston Bombings happened. We will always remember the faces of the two cowards that did this to our country and on a day where we have a big event that people train for all year to have a good time. The terrorist that is still alive should be treated like a terrorist and should not just get the death sentence. Yes he is 19 and that is young, but he killed 3 people and injured many more. He is an adult here in America and should be punished not only as an adult, but a terrorist. I, as well as many other Americans, feel horrible for what the terrorists did and I pray for all the families, friends and victims of the terrible tragedy.

  23. The bombings that occurred in Boston where absolutely horrible and have caused much upheaval in our country. People are scared and no longer feel safe, all within good reason. The bombings that happened in Boston were a terrible event and the people responsible for this should be convicted and suffer the consequences of their actions. I think that Tsarnaev should be charged as an enemy combatant and he should not have any special considerations. If he is stripped of his rights by being charged as an enemy combatant then so be it, he deserves to be punished for taking the lives of innocent people and harming all those people in the marathon. By not tolerating these types of actions, we will hopefully prevent something like this from happening again or at least make someone think twice about committing a crime like this in the future.

  24. I think that this is a very sad situation. I cannot seem to understand how someone could destroy the lives of so many innocent people. I often wonder what goes through the minds of these terrorists and what constitutes their actions. He is very young and it is very sad that he was obviously influenced at a young age to commit this act. I think that he should be prosecuted to the fullest even if that leads up to the death penalty. In the meantime, he should be kept in maximum security. This will make him realize how he impacted the lives of so many innocent people. The U.S. has fallen victim to several terrorist attacks throughout this entire decade and this bombing has increased the scare rate in our country, causing us not to have any since of safety and security. However, I would like to congratulate the entire police and military system for doing an outstanding job on finding and obtaining him. I do not know how we are going to get a handle on terrorism attacks in our country the future, but hopefully we will start to become more cautious of who allow into our country by adding more restrictions on foreigners.

  25. There is only one word that describes my reaction towards these two men's actions, wow. This 19-year-old man and his brother have no heart when they were so calm during these bombings. Only two bombs went off during the Boston marathon. The police found three others. That means a total of five bombs. If all the bombs were to go off so many more would be injured and worse could of caused death. The Boston marathon was honoring the school shooting for the little kids and teachers who lost their lives, and these men decide to bomb the place. They must not have feelings when they walk up to the people and set the bomb on the ground, and knowing that those people are going to die or get seriously injured. I think Dzhokhar Tsarnaev should be put to death for the pain he has put upon America. I also heard that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is trying to work out a plea deal so he won't get the death sentence. He will tell the officers everything if he does not get the death sentence. Honestly if I was him I would want to be put to death if that meant avoiding every American in prison who would want to hurt me.

    ReplyDelete
  26. The suspect Tsarnaev was charged with the use of a weapon of mass destruction and with the malicious destruction of property resulting in death. I wonder why they charge is a weapon of mass destruction since the bomb was home-made. I understand that it was meant to cause deaths and injuries but if they’re classifying home-made bombs as weapons of mass destruction, then what are nuclear bombs? Also when they mention a large pyrotechnic, they’re not specific as to what they’re referring to. It’s also mentions that the White House decided not to charge the individual as an enemy combatant. I wonder why they would even consider it because of the fact that he is only 19 years old. At 18, one is legally considered an adult but it doesn’t necessarily that one has fully developed into an adult. If the White House did charge him they would strip him of certain rights provided by the courts, but then is it really a fair and democratic process?

  27. Most mass murderers, such as school shooters, kill themselves after or during their terrifying acts. The Boston Bombings however were acts of terrorism but hopefully since the younger brother of the two who committed this act of terrorism has been caught maybe now research can be conducted on him in order to find out why he committed this act of terrorism. Research may show that he has some mental issues like most of people who commit mass murders but maybe we can find something different and helpful in finding out why people do this to other people. The Boston Bombings were a terrifying and very sad event that has happened to this nation but hopefully with research we can figure out the reasoning behind these mass murders.

    Boston Marathon Bombing

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is just as guilt as his brother, and he was in on it too. Innocence face but a nature bone killer both brother was in this together he should be charged with a federal crimes they kill 3 people and injury 260 people this was a senseless violence.
The Obama administration said that he was not an enemy combatant the public safety they want to give him the death penalty under the federal law which he should be he is a hi- profile.
They have the video and tapes with them do violence they were told to look at the older brother, but they lost him if they know about him why come they did something. And they want to know who was they do it with are there more.

  32. Even though this guy is beyond a piece of trash, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev should continue to receive his fair trial. I say this based on what I’ve seen in the news. Apparently he is a U.S. citizens. At this point I also can’t help but wonder how Cesare Beccaria would approach this guy’s trial and not only because this blog is a class requirement. Beccaria from what we’ve read is against the death penalty with the exception of traitors to the country. Would Beccaria find this man to be a traitor? This boy carried out an attack in the name of his “religion”. However, not everyone his religion is doing this. I would see this as attack against our country. This may sound redneck but these guys only plan was to invoke fear and TERROR in the hearts of our countrymen. As an avid distance runner and grumpy vet I of course want to say this dude should be put to death. However the time to kill him right has passed. They should’ve iced him at the scene but instead they brought him to justice. So throw him in prison forever. The strangest part of this whole thing is, no terrorist group is even claiming these guys. So in a sense they are wannabe terrorists who actually carried out an attack. This Tsarnaev guy is now in his own terrorist group. (Almost like Zimmerman wanting to be play police man). Apparently at this moment the FBI won’t even leave him and his defense team alone to strategize. It’ll be interesting to see how this trial goes.

  33. On the eve of the Boston bombing one year later I thought it only appropriate to take a look back at this terrible tragedy and see where we are today. When we take a look back at this case are we really to a better understanding of why these things continue to happen within our society? What we do know is that these extreme practices perpetrated by extremists groups seem to continue in our society. Dzhokhar sits in federal custody awaiting trial for his part in the crime that killed three innocent people and wounded hundreds of others, the picture of the conspiracy that has emerged in the months since April 15, 2013 remains cloudy, with major questions remaining about Tamerlan's motives and intentions. The largest glaring hole in understanding the Boston Marathon attack centers on how Tamerlan Tsarnaev became radicalized. It seems relatively clear from evidence of his behavior in Greater Boston during the time leading up to the attack that Tamerlan had indeed embraced a radical Islamic ideology. Upon returning from his trip to Russia, he reportedly engaged in several heated altercations at the local Islamic Society of Boston cultural center. Investigators also uncovered a YouTube account created by Tsarnaev on which he posted several radical jihadist videos. There is also evidence that the FBI questioned Tsarnaev in early 2011. I am concerned that this seems to be a recurring theme in these terroristic attacks that we hear that these individuals have been within our sights before their acts have been executed yet they still seem to succeed.

  34. Like it or not, he's still a citizen of the US and thereby entitled to ALL the rights you and I and every other American is. When we start changing that, we're no longer America. But don't worry, even with those rights, he'll be convicted and punished - and the whole world will know our justice system works and that every American - even when they don't dessrve it, gets treated the same way.
