  1. The Flint Michigan serial killer falls into the "Disorganized" category under the classes of serial killer. This classification means a couple of things, first being that his sporadic and impulsive killings will lead to his capture sooner rather than later. Being a disorganized serial killer often means that the murderer has a mental illness (or illnesses) / mental instabilities. A way to try to prevent serial killers like this from emerging would be to have children better monitored while growing up. Their are always warning signs for serial killer behavior, and if teachers at school are aware of these symptoms, then a mental disorder may be diagnosed. This will prevent serial killers from emerging before they even reach adulthood.

  2. Serial killers are an interesting but terrible subject matter. In this case the serial killer is supposed to be a disorganized serial killer because he is killing and injuring random people. I just can not imagine what could possibly be going on in this persons mind, how he just sees someone and goes up to them and kills them or stabs them. People really have something psychological or mentally wrong to do something as unethical as take another’s life. He did not even know these victims but yet was capable of hurting them. He was out late for no reason, and was carrying a weapon that he should not have had on him. Someone like this can not be mentally stable; something must have control of their mind to put a force on their cognitive state. In our chapters we discussed many things that could have had a affect on people who commit crimes, like psychological disorders, biological disorders and etc, but even with all of these scientific reasons they have a lot of criminals who lie and use these as excuses to justify their actions. This is why so much time and money is invested into a case like this once the serial killer is caught, because the question is how someone in their right mind can commit such a foul act.

  3. Organized and disorganized offenders have a distinction that can be examined by the scene of the crime and the victim. Organized offenders usually live an orderly life style and are of high intelligence and socially competent. They are more likely to have a skilled job than a disorganized offender, and in most cases has a wife or girlfriend and doesn't live alone. The organized offender plans out his murders in an orderly fashion, and typically will not leave efidence behind that will lead back to him such as a murder weapon. This is almost completely oposite of a disorganized offender in the fact that the disorganized will often not put any thought or preperation into the murder of his victims. In this sense, the disorganized offender is often very difficult to catch and is still dangerous because unlike the organized offender, he is more unpredictable. The disorganized offender leaves more evidence at the scene of a crime and is usually single and of lower intelligence.

  4. First off, I would hate to be the victim of a disorganized serial killer, with "cruising" being the way they find their victims. It's interesting to think that more hasn't been released on this killer yet. Whether it's voices in his head or some other mental disorder, I found it shocking that the article only linked it to disorganized serial killers and the organized killers as well. With his sporadic killings it seems that the criminal justice system will be able to catch him sooner rather than later. This case is also unique that he is targeting men, when victims of serial killers tend to be women. The article spent time distinguishing the two different types of serial killers, the organized and disorganized. The organized serial killer takes his time and can usually get away with his/her murders for longer. This is opposed to the unorganized, like the Flint, Michigan killer, who is sloppy and erratic with his killings. Hopefully this one will be caught in the near future.

  5. This is an interesting story considering this serial killer is known to be a "disorganized" serial killer. But even with being disorganized is that an even better way to put it? either way were still dealing with a serial killer. I find it sad that they think that this man could be suffering from problems with him "hearing voices telling him to do this." If this is the case for this man, he needs serious help. I in a way feel sorry for him not because he is killing people but for the fact he may not be "meaning" to kill them and that if there are voices telling him to do this then he really is not all there when he is doing this. Im not trying to find an excuse for him I just feel that in a way he probably just needs some help. They say that he spots his victims by "cruising" around which means that he doesnt plan out his victiims and have a reason to kill them. Either way this is a crazy mixed up case. hopefully they find this guy and figure out if he needs some serious help.

  6. The majority of murders are crimes of passion, and the killer knows the victim. But these random, “disorganized” crimes are the hardest to solve and the ones that break our trust in the community. While solving a murder investigators look for murders, especially when physical evidence is scarce. But obviously the motive of these murders is some sick fascination that leaves us with no suspects. When you hear about a guy going around and picking random victims to inflict pain on then watch them die, I’m not about to make that trip to the grocery store I was just thinking about. I’ll wait until daytime or until I can have someone who can protect me or help me, can come along. These types of murders put the fear in the community; it makes us not trust strangers. When we don’t have this trust in the community it makes it easier for those committing the crimes. This is a time though that we should come together to protect each other and help catch a murderer.

  7. Call him disorganized or whatever,he's not wired properly. He picks males as victims, meaning he is physically fit to attack anyone or he just doesn't give a hoot. In these times you have to be aware of your surroudings at all times, any giving time you could be a victims of these sick people. I think they are not off to much because they attack helpless victims who cannot defend themselves, most of them, if they are "real men" then attack a grown man and see what kind of results these offenders end up with.

  8. Not having the knowledge or regard to think about his victims or crimes before he commits them clearly screams mentally distraught. The Flint, Michigan killer clearly based on victims and sporadicness tells a story that this man seems to just snap at random moments. This tells us there are signs of metal issues and these crimes are crimes of passion.... another conclusive sign is the way the man has stabbed multiple numbers of his victims. The mentality and audacity it takes for an individual to commit such an act is beyond reasonable rational and further suggests the man is suffering from psychosis. The continuation of his messy killings will eventually lead to his capture and incarceration which will be a blessing for all.

  9. As opposed to an organized serial killer, the Flint “serial killer believed to be responsible for five homicides and eleven other stabbings seems to hold the characteristics of a disorganized type of serial killer.” Who really knows? The forensic psychologist, Dr. Alex Yufik seems to think so. Profilers didn’t seem to get it right with the D. C. sniper or John Wayne Gacy. Personally, I think they are just looking at uniform crime reports (UCR) and then pretending to analyze some vital clues that only they can find.

All of us have seen profilers recreated on prime-time police dramas. They solve cases by looking into the mind of the perpetrator, like they have ESP. I know Hollywood TV shows are caricatures of real-life drama, but profilers are not the be all to end all either. Solving a crime takes good old fashioned, long hours in the field, crime scene investigative work and follow-up on possible leads. If the officer on the scene does shoddy work, 90 percent of the time, the crime will not be solved. Bottom line, we don’t need self-important people with fancy names along with high six figure salaries leading the way. I will take a seasoned investigative officer over a so-called profiler any day.

  10. I dont understand why people are so curel to want to go out an kill that way it is the power that they want they understand no matter how many they kill they will never have the power and when they are caught all that power his though he has gained from this will be gone and then someone eles will pick up where he left off and that is sad when we take one killer off the street two more pop up and replace the one we lock up. we need to learn why they do this and start looking out for th3ese poeple .

  11. Wow, this guy was considered "disorganized"? Didn't Ted Bundy drive around the university in a VW without a passenger seat looking for his victims? Didn't Jeffery Dahmer troll around in bars and alleys looking for his victims? Then I guess I've just read about disorganized serial killers.

I'm under the opinion if you can think long enough to calculate a killing, enjoy seeing your victim's pain, your brain is organized in some sort of way, although very disturbed. If this Flint serial killer was so disorganized, how come he got away with five homicides and eleven stabbings?

  12. I find it interesting the way a serial killer can be categorized into such simplistic groups; organized and disorganized. The forensic psychologist states that this man clearly falls into the category of disorganized meaning that he has a more serious form of mental illness. The ability to judge based off of the serial killers patterns they are able to come one step closer into identifying this man. He clearly does have a joy for causing people pain while experiencing it at the same time due to the number of people that have been stabbed verse shot. I believe that this man has had to of experienced some type of tragic home setting as a child... at least it would bring some sense of clarity as to why this man is sick enough to continue to murder people. Regardless there is no excuse for his actions and clearly he needs to be caught but why hasn't he thus far? I think because he is a disorganized serial killer he has not created a pattern for the police to catch on too. He does not seek out a specific type of victim simply chooses them based off their level of vulnerability. In order to someone help prevent being attack no male or female should ever travel alone... it is something that is avoidable in every circumstance, but it could help lead to the lessen of opportunity in being attacked in general. Men like this are everywhere and in every city. Therefore this case if anything can be a used as a lesson to many, as grasp more firmly the concept, that there are sick people in this world that thrive off of killing innocent people, Especially those who make themselves more readily available to being attacked.

  13. The Flint Michigan serial killer is definitely in the disorganized category. "Cruising" doesn't seem like the appropriate word but this killer is obviously randomly picking his victims. The story classifies him as a mentally ill individual and I'd have to agree. This suspect may be acting on impulse or listening to "voices" to hurt these random victims. The suspect seems to enjoy inflicting pain and maybe watching his victims suffer because it doesn't seem that he is sticking around to make sure they are dead. Maybe he just enjoys hurting people, which means he's a sick, sick individual.

  14. Organized or disorganized, I think this man is perfectly sane. He was killing random, innocent people. People that he has never known. People that hasn't done anything to him. Classifying him mentally ill doesn't make the situation any different. He's still a killer, point blank. And if he is mentally ill It doesn't give him the right to go out and kill. In my opinion that is no excuse to go and take someone's life.

  15. Mentally ill, or mentally sane, it doesn't make a difference. This man is fully aware of what he is doing. Find him, and put him away. This man has a strong desire to see his victims suffer, otherwise he wouldn't be using a knife. Some people just have tendencies to inflict pain onto others just because. It doesn't necessarily mean that he is mentally ill. Since he is disorganized, it may make him easier to capture, but the authorities need to start cracking dow on this guy. I think if he's already killed and injured that many people, there should be some breakthrough in the case itself.

  16. Well that’s a new term that I have never heard of disorganized serial killer. Who I feel like intro to criminal justice has just taught me just the bare mininam of the criminal justice system. Being a criminal justice criminologists must be hard having to remember all kinds of terms and being able to call a pond them at any time. Some people are just sick and can’t be helped. Whenever this person gets caught they need to just to slice and dice him to pieces, but I know it’s cruel and unusual punishment but come on why can’t we just bend the rules this time? What does he have to be on his 24th victim in order for us to get fed up enough to just shot him if he is ever caught. It’s nice to know people do care about others and they left a number, I wonder if anyone in class called them. I hope one day when I’m working out there in the world I can come up with a term that people use, or who knows maybe even a theory that helps solves crimes or prevents white collar crime. If I come up with a theory or something that helps prevent white collar crime I will be paid…sweet.

  17. A disorganized serial killer really? A serial killer is a serial killer regardless if he’s insane, mentally ill, or disorganized. The fact that this dude goes after men is a little weird but it could just be a twisted desire of his. He is just a watered down version of Jeffrey Dahmer. He obviously knows what he’s doing. He knows who he wants to go after, what he wants to do, and hoe he’s going to do it. Call it what you want, the man is a serial killer and he needs to thrown in prison for life or he needs to suffer the same amount of pain he’s inflicted on his victims. Eye for an eye.

  18. From reading this article I was not sure if this killer was just going after men or if it includes men, women, and children, handicapped or what not. either way he goes after men so he likes the challenge of the kill or he has had a bad experience with a man (like rape etc). This article is not a good article to assess what type of serial killer he is. The police 1st of all are not going to give the media all they know. The media leaks out so much wrong information too.
