There could be so many things that could have been going through this young boys mind. The sad thing is that because of it he made a very bad decision. He could have been bullied by another peer who could have pushed him to the limit. There is a link between school shootings and suicidal ideations as well as being connected to bullying. Though in an interview by one of the students he believed that the young boy did not want to harm his peers, he said that the atmosphere was relatively calm, and they were talking to him about fishing and etc. This young man turned the gun on himself and not on another being, so there is not a definite reason or answer as to why he chose to bring the gun to school. I just believe that he was troubled in someway, being 15 is hard enough, but by adding other facts such as bullying or family situations to the mix it can become very stressful. It can be stressful especially if the teen does not feel comfortable talking to anyone about what is going on. This is also a problem in schools, most schools do not have a “guidance counselor” they have counselors that make schedules and help them with academics. These children do not have adults to turn to when in a predicament at school, which contributes to school shootings.
Keep up the good work Greg! I am glad you are maintaining the blog.
